DASH DOTS:

  • Winston-Salem had six scheduled games postponed in 2013. Since becoming the Dash in 2009, there have been 42 scheduled games that were adversely affected by weather.
  • The Dash lead the Carolina League in errors, and they are tied for the third-most in Minor League Baseball with 37. Two Midwest League teams: the Fort Wayne TinCaps (Low-A, San Diego) and the Lake County Captains (Low-A, Cleveland) have each committed 38 defensive miscues this season, while the Lake Elsinore Storm (High-A, San Diego) of the California League have made 37 blunders.
  • Winston-Salem has lost five of seven meetings with the Salem Red Sox this season, having been outscored 48–36. The two teams play a four-game series at LewisGale Field, tonight through Tuesday.
  • In five games against Salem this season, outfielder Adam Heisler is batting .647 (11-for-17) with two doubles, two triples, two RBIs and three runs scored. Overall, Heisler is hitting .317 with one home run and three RBIs.
  • More than half of outfielder Courtney Hawkins’ five home runs and 20 RBIs this season have come against Salem. The 20-year-old has hit three balls out of the park against the Red Sox, amassing 12 RBIs in seven games.
  • Probable starting pitcher Mike Recchia will look to continue his momentum from consecutive strong outings. In his most recent appearance last Saturday against Salem at BB&T Ballpark, the former Yankees farmhand allowed just one run in seven innings and set a new career-high in strikeouts with nine but ended up with a tough-luck loss in a 2–0 defeat. Recchia is currently 1–2 with a 4.11 earned run average this season.
