The White Sox have announced that right-handed reliever Phil Negus has been released from the organization. Negus made three appearances for the Dash this season and went 0–1 with a 5.40 earned run average. In six and two-thirds innings of work, Negus surrendered five runs (four earned) on 10 hits.

Negus played his college baseball at Wake Forest University in the Winston-Salem area. He went 7–10 during three seasons with Wake before the White Sox selected him in the 18th round of the 2009 MLB Draft.

The Milford, Mass., native spent 2010 and 2011 with Low-A Kannapolis and went a combined 4–1 with a 3.12 ERA in 36 appearances. He began his professional career with Bristol in ’09 and boasted a 2.38 ERA in 15 efforts.

The Dash’s roster sits at 24 players, which is one less than the Carolina League maximum. Winston-Salem’s bullpen now has seven pitchers.

Winston-Salem and Myrtle Beach continue their three-game series tonight at 7:05. Join us for the Pre-Game Dash at 6:50 on wsdash.com.
