Dash Add One, Send Two to DL
The Dash made a few roster moves today, bringing a new player to Winston-Salem and adding two players to what is becoming a very crowded disabled list. Kyle Shelton exited the game against Frederick two nights ago, and he was officially placed on the DL yesterday with a strained left hamstring. Dash starter Ryan Buch has right rotator cuff tendinitis and was put on the disabled list today.
Shelton has hit safely in all five games with the Dash this season. He is batting .368 with seven hits, two triples, one home run and five RBI. Shelton played a key part on Tuesday, hitting a home run and a triple before scoring the go-ahead run in the eighth to help the Dash record their 100th regular season home win at BB&T Ballpark.
Buch most recently started on Monday, recording a win and striking out six batters in five innings of work. In 10 starts this season, Buch has compiled a 3-5 record with a 5.44 ERA and struck out 46 batters in 44 and two-thirds innings.
It is not all bad news for Winston-Salem. Infielder Michael Johnson was added to the roster out of extended spring training, and shortstop Marcus Semien did partake in some running drills after Thursday night’s game. Semien has not played since May 12 due to a right shoulder injury.
Johnson started the year in Kannapolis, appearing in 17 games for the Intimidators. He hit .175 with a triple and 3 RBI. He was selected by the White Sox in the 31st round of the 2011 draft.
Join me on the “Pre-Game Dash” tonight at 6:45 for more on the Dash. Then, Winston-Salem and Carolina kick off this three-game set at 7.
